Here is another reason to attend Fechtscuhule America. I will be presenting to the WMA community a formally unknown fencing manuscript at the event in Houston this year. This is an Italian manuscript dated to the 1420's - 1430's. Included within its pages are the guards "The Falcon," "High Guard," and "Under the Arm."

Hope to see you there.

Hi Brian,

That is awesome news!

Do you have any plans to release any more details after or publish, for those of us not able to make it to FA?

Cheers,
Dan.

Brian,

I've heard that this is a big deal and worth the price of admission. Congratulations for uncovering it and thank you for sharing it. I look forward to hearing what you've found at FA

For one, Christoph Amberger is going to be there! I don't know about the rest of you, but his book was one of the things that got me into HEMA many years ago.

Same here, Keith! Secret History of the Sword was one of the key books that convinced me to make the transition from Asian martial arts to HEMA full time! It's funny how all the instructors have registered for Christoph's class! It's a very rare opportunity and is probably going to be one of the highlights of this year's event for me. 8-)

Spread the word around everyone, only three days left to take advantage of the discounted special. Get it while it's hot!

Ok. So I registered early before the classes were up, now how do I sign up for classes?

Hi All!

Fechtschule America is almost upon us so it's time for another update. It's a big one so hang on tight!

ITEM- We are pleased to announce the rediscovery of a new early-1400's Italian fencing manual by Brian Stokes of Schola San Marco. Fechtschule America attendees will be privileged to take a first peek at this exciting find when Brian Stokes presents an introductory lecture, first-draft transcription, and possible translation. There are healthy rumors that this may be the earliest known Italian sword and buckler material so don't miss out!

ITEM- We are proud to announce North America's first WMA/HEMA specific International Open Sword and Buckler Tournament! In celebration of the new manual, anticipation of a new edition of R.A. MS. I.33, and relentless requests we've decided it is time to put North America's sword and buckler fencers on the international map. Join us for the first Hammertertz Forum International Open Sword and Buckler Tournament! It's time to test the mettle of your club's sword and buckler skills!

ITEM- In recent years many excellent manufacturing companies have worked tirelessly to develop and produce equipment specifically designed to benefit the burgeoning WMA / HEMA communities. Fechtschule America is delighted to welcome numerous top-tier sponsors into the fold this year. Many of our sponsors are showcasing new items to the North American audiences for the first time and others are showcasing items for the first time ever! Come examine the future of WMA / HEMA gear, field test everything for yourself, and weigh in on future articles. See our "Sponsors" page on the website for details and direct links. Our current list of sponsors include: Absolute Force, Arms and Armor, Darkwood Armory, PBT Historical Fencing, Purpleheart Armory, Sparringglove.com, Therion Arms, The Weapon Store, and more!

ITEM-
Due to the overwhelming support of so many fine sponsors, Fechtschule America is proud to offer multiple prizes for all of our Hammertertz Forum International Open and Invitational Tournaments this year! Prizes include new HEMA "kits", training swords, gloves, and more! See our "Prizes" page on the website for a current listing of prizes and don't be surprised if we add a few more.

ITEM- All tournament rules are now posted on the website. Competitors are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the rules prior to attending. Please give special attention to equipment standards. Some equipment may be available for sale on-site thanks to our great vendors, Purpleheart Armory and Therion Arms, but competitors are expected to provide their own_compliant_gear. Time to start training for Fechtschule America!

As you've come to expect from Fechtschule America, we still have more surprises in the works...are you sure you want to miss out?

Register now and join us in Houston, March 16th- 19, 2012!

First of all, thank you for the early registration! Early registrations help us budget the event better and so beers will be bought for your commitment and contribution to HEMA! :D

Secondly, apologies for the tardy response, life....I have one....and it's surprisingly full just prior to Fechtschule America for some reason. :P

Lastly, worry not, you can simply re-register and choose the classes you want but click on the "check" payment option, I'll inform the Minister of Finance to be on the watch for your repeat registration. Do not paypal unless you're just dying to donate to the cause, in which case, more beers will be bought!

Looking forward to meeting you soon, Mate!

Done. Couldn't afford the extra donation though.

Chrome is currently warning me that the FA website contains malware, and I shouldn't visit it. Anyone know what's going on with that?

Looks like FA has been hacked and is trying to redirect your browser to somewhere bizzare right now. Users with older browsers, especially IE, should not go have a curious look.
