yeah that's what I've heard a lot about Alchem. They're slow and unresponsive, but people get their stuff eventually.

yes its 50-50 cut and thrust. But thats with the caveat that all cuts must end in a manner thjat allows for an instant thrust. This changes the nature of the cuts requiring control. The footwork is the standard Italian stuff, you could make some arguments about how deep the individual should go with lunges due to body types and limitations etc.
We assume right foot forward in rappier 99% of the time as opposed to Dusack which is around 80% right foot forward with frequent use of passes as needed, rappier is pretty much right foot forward and stay forward using meyer's triangles to move around.

Yup Meyer is in the the Marozzo Bolognese lineage according to a 18th or 19th century french fencing historian.

We freeplay using wooden simulators but will be switching to the Alchems when able.
Its very nasty stuff watch the eyes.
Its pretty clear how deadly this system was and why it was the civilian self defense of the day, i can only imagine how horrible it must have been to be on the end of Meyer's Rappier point.

Looking forward to your videos.

Thanks all!

We'll use Meyer with our usual rapier protective gear and should be good to go. We used side-swords and lived.

For the cut, I'm thinking cut to langort, so the thrust can be leveled? Or something along those lines rather than cut from a high guard to a low?

Edit = Alcem billed me for the additions I wanted on the blade (perforated guard and knuckle bow). Good sign so far. I asked for a delivery estimate as well.

Hey guys!

I just put up my translations of Paulus Hector Mair's Rappier/Sidesword section on the Wiktaneur. Look for it soon on the MFFG site as well accompanied by the illustrations from the Dresden Codex.

Thanks! I'll get blades and be using it soon. Everyone has sent me lots of material and I think with my Italian rapier background and side-swordy make-believe before that, I'll have a good starting foundation. Things that will be interesting is to work on voids over opposition and beats. Not that we don't do this in Italian rapier, but we have lots of ways to get around it.

Thanks much again! Hope to share video in the months to come.

Thanks Keith M. for yet another translative contribution. :)

The fencers of the past were lucky to have the work of Meyer and Mair - we of the present are lucky to have the work of Myers. ;)

And yes, Richard M. - please keep making those videos. :)

Reply from Alchem about delivery times.

Some of the items needed to make the swords are on back-order, when they arrive it should be easy to put together and ship out. He knows I want it for Meyer cut n thrust and will try to make the blade accordingly.

He's guess-ti-mating 4 to 6 weeks. Long wait, but I'll live!
