love the disclaimer at the end of the page:

Disclaimer: the fighting methods shown here are for illustrative purposes only. They are not intended as actual instruction in Medieval fighting and should not be used as such.

 guess someone forgot to mention that to us

and that's unlucky about the stuff on back-order. At least you'll get them eventually. It's long enough that maybe you'll forget about them, and then get a nice surprise in a few weeks!

Right, I said I'd get Meyer Rappiers and I did. It took a long time, Alchem does deliver but deliver slow. We ordered sometime in October, by Xmas we had promises it was on its way, and it arrived 2-21-2012. I don't mind long waits if told in advance. On the other hand, price is cheap and so far so good.

Weight = 2.5 Pounds
Overall Length = 43 1/2 inches
Blade Length = 36 inches

Stout sword, with a guard meant to simulate Meyer rappier.

Large Pic- copy and paste if needs be.

We'll be testing them out shortly. Our biggest issue is we have worked with a variety of 17th century rapier manuals, but not a lot of 16th century. We want to stay in the spirit of Meyer and will do our best.

Because the hands are exposed and the blades are fairly thick, we will probably starting off with lacrosse gloves to begin with instead of our usual leather with the more protected 17th century-style rapiers we normally use.

I'll keep people updated!

I was just thinking about this the other day.

Good to hear that they delivered. That seems to be the general consensus about Alchem: it may take a long time, but they DO deliver.

should be fun to see some of your Meyer work :) maybe even the first vids on youtube showing Meyer's rappier

Yes, I hope we will be among the first, warts and all, but not the last.

I found this Meyer Freifechter Guild video of them using wooden wasters. Mike Cartier and Curt.
Notice how Mike maintains his right leg forward. I have come across a few others on their website too with the wooden wasters.

These fellows are using Brian Hunt's synthetics in what is based on Meyer Rappier if I read their description correctly. An older video.

And that's it for 'Meyer Rappier' I can find on you-tube so far!

...and it was after about an hour of going through Meyer rapier material, so don't judge too harsh!

It's wonderful. Far superior to the vast near-nothing out there! However, I notice a lack of yellow-socks which I assumed was a form of 'magic gear'.

we have a couple more Rappier videos here, much older ones but using much more robust rappier trainers of wood. These days we use a lighter wooden version (Curt's wonderful trainers)
