Knighthood in the 14th Century

Posted by Dan Sellars on Schola Forum, I think a lot of people here would find it interesting for context, especially Fioreistas since it's to do with Italian Knights.

I am amused by the Italian attempts to 'Romanize' their knighthood and repair its image. The story at the start is a good one. I am reminded of one Machiavelli wrote about. He commented on how in one 'great' battle amongst condetteroti, none was killed except Lodovico degli Obizzi and two of his men who fell from their horses and drowned in the mud. Exaggerations, but the audience surely 'gets' the idea.

Thanks Dan, via Jean.
