Options from the bind

Postby Jesse Eaton » Tue Jan 10, 2012 1:09 pm

I'm looking at putting a complete, or nearly so, set of actions from the bind given variable circumstances. I've put together a list of variables that I think could influence ones actions. I'm starting with just the actions from the standard zorn v. zorn bind and plan to work from there to other sorts of binds. The variables I have so far are as follows:

Pressure- Hard to Soft (perhaps a scale of 1-10)
Center line control- yes or no
Direction of opposing force- up, down, left, or right
Spacial location- up, down, left or right (relative to center line and shoulder level)
Location on the sword- strong, ridge, weak

If I missed anything or if anything isn't clear (highly likely) please feel free to pick it apart. The intention is for this to be part of curriculum for beginners and as such it needs to be broken down into small digestible pieces. And as clear as possible

Any input is appreciated :)

Have you looked at Tobler's Fighting with the German Longsword? He includes some nifty flow charts that try to capture this same concept.

Michael,

No, but I will see if I can get a look from some one else in Kron. I'll put it on my reading list.

Thanks

Michael,

Is there a cheaper way to get that? $226 for a paperback is a little ridiculous....

well, Fighting was published with Chivalry Bookshelf, so they probably wont print any more, and it looks like supplies are starting to run out. Tobler mentioned that he's working on an update to Fighting, which I'm sure will be published with Freelance Academy Press.
