Northern Ireland HEMA; MCG Belfast

Postby MatthewMalcolm » Fri Feb 24, 2012 2:33 pm

As people may or may not know there has not been a lot of HEMA in Northern Ireland.

However we have just opened a club, in its infancy, in Belfast and have had our first group night tonight. We study mainly Longsword, Liechtenhauer; from Doebringer, Ringeck and Goliath. We hope that we can spread HEMA as a past time and as a competitive sport around this small corner of the world.

If you want to find out more about us search 'Medieval Combat Group' on facebook; we are also hoping to have a website up soon too which will be available at www.medievalcombatgroup.co.uk.

A quick mention to say thanks to all the people who have posted up about their groups, what challanges they have had and any other tips on running groups; as I have been paying close attention and using all the information here to give us a head start.

If anybody ever finds themselves in Northern Ireland, or if you live there and have been waiting for a group let us know; we are (reasonably) friendly...

Matt,

I hope you don't mind that I've added your group to the HEMA map.

Hey Matthew, good to see you here! I'd quite like to come over and visit at some point, hopefully we can get something sorted.

Ditto. I think the Glaswegians should invade Belfast and we can all have fun with swords.

Alex and Keith,

You both welcome over whenever! Give us a bit of notice and we can put you up. Or, when we've got stuff up and running, we can invite you over maybe to do a demo or a lesson etc...
