I love 'em! I try and do at least one type of void in each bout that I do, from the low pass to either the left or right foot girata. You definitely have to drill 'em diligently, not only to make sure you're giving your opponent the opening you want to give, but to also trust in the technique.

The big reason I like them is that, well, as Fabris likes to point out, it is better to keep your blade free than to not. There's a lot of reasons for that, most importantly is that by keeping your blade free, you maintain the most control of your blade.

Feel free to check out my clips on youtube, there's plenty of void's being done.

Cheers!

That's because there's even less of you to hit than me! Didn't you teach a whole class on them at WMAW?

I performed a left-foot girata at my Scholar Prize Play this past weekend against John O'Meara that I'm pretty proud of. Once the video is released, I will share it here.

Hahaha! I dunno Kevin, we're both pretty slim dudes, and yes, I did do a class on voids at WMAW which was so much fun! Also, Robert held himself truly well at his Prize Play to gain the rank of Scholar this past weekend! Cheers!

Ahhh, that was a fun fight! It was my prize play against my instructor John, he's the tall one lol. There's actually quite a few voids in that fight. The first one was an attempted low pass by John at about :30, which I avoided by elbow push, but he got me by bringing his point in-line just as I was closing measure! There is a left-foot girata by John at 2:05 that connected nicely. I pulled off a nice left-foot girata from an invitational quarta at 2:55. Then a really nice in-tempo low pass at 3:08, and John again gets a beautiful left-foot girata at 3:24 for the final hit! A really nice fight!
