Mangifico to say the least, Kevin and Chris van Slam have returned from Italy and the meeting with our brother in arms Roberto Gotti over there with wonderful new viewpoints and goodies. Expect some mind blowing stuff come February, those Northern Italians are quite unique and its high time they get known for how much they do for HEMA.

I had the chance to meet Kev and Chris in Treviso. They are incredible fellows! We were sorely tempted to kidnap them for our fencing delight
Well, I hope I'll have the chance to meet 'em again soon, and maybe some more members of the Frei Fechter Guild along with 'em.

As for the rest, you were fantastic, and it was enlightening for the art seeing how easy it is to bridge the Atlantic for us HEMA practitioners. The problem with Italian historical fencers, at least around here, is that they were a bit too holed up in their little den, with their habits and followers, with no love for the Internet. For some reason, they didn't look to the international community at all. People like Roberto are going to be game changers. And I try to help along the way

I bet that in a couple of years we'll have and even wider community to build upon, and progressively vaster series of connections!

Yes, hope to have more and better engagements with the Italian HEMA community, only a few of whom are even distantly associated with other groups we know, e.g. HEMAC, it would be great to have sources on the ground so to speak.
